Last night's thrash at the Amsterdam Marcanti was not as wild as those thrown around 2000, but then again, it will take time to re-establish itself, and we are all nearly ten years older.

One of the highlights of the night was surely the science lab / cocktail bar dispensing frothing, coloured shots in test tuibes. There was a steady queue for concotions throughout the evening.

The music was mostly 'bangin' club tunes'-style, played by, I think, more than one DJ during the evening, though it's difficult to be sure.

And the dancers were great, particularly when preening & posing for guests out on the dancefloor and around the club.

If you're familiar with the Soho post production community, you will recognise faces in the slideshow (click on link), and you will also appreciate I fell in with a pretty unruly crowd.

The return of the IBC 'Have Fun' party!

If you have been visiting IBC for the last decade or so, you'll have either attended or heard tell of the infamous 'Have Fun' parties at the Melkweg, off Leidserplein, which were held between 1999 and 2002.

The organisers and sponsors were 3-D workstation vendor Intergraph and 3-D software developer Softimage, plus assorted partners.

After a gap of far too many years, it's time to brace yourselves for a long night of hedonism, strange sights, cheap thrills, and maybe a little laughing gas!

This time around the main sponsors include Assimilate, Filmlight, Boxx, Bluefish444, Globalstor and Tangent Devices.

The party will be held at the Amsterdam Marcanti, and will be hosted by party organisers extraordinaires Earth.

Enjoy cheaper drinks off Amsterdam's beaten track

DutchAmsterdam.nl - You may not be surprised to learn that the bars & cafes in Leidserplein and Rembrandstplein are the most expensive in The Netherlands.

A report by the Dutch consumer information service, Consumentenbond shows that the cost of drinking on an outdoor terrace in Amsterdam is almost 10% higher than the national average.

The cost of an outdoor seating permit is partly to blame. In Rotterdam the City gets €424 for 50 square meters, while in Amsterdam a permit for the same size terrace costs the bar owner €4,178.
